Emberwing, Repetitive Gameplay, and the Need for More Content
in New Legacy
Dear Community,
The game is becoming repetitive, especially after getting the Emberwing. Since there’s no real alternative, everyone is just chasing it—only to realize that once you have it, the gameplay loses its excitement. It all comes down to grinding for points to get the Emberwing, and after that, there’s little left to do.
The lack of content and alternative pets with four slots to add variety makes things stale. On top of that, class diversity is almost nonexistent—90% of players are tamers, while warriors, assassins, and archers are rarely seen. Introducing new skills like Necromancy, Chivalry, or Mysticism could bring excitement back to the game, allowing for fresh playstyles and experimentation.
I know new content is planned for spring, but what exactly does that mean? Another boss or two won’t be enough. The game needs more depth—quests, lore, and meaningful connections between events, not just scattered boss fights. Looking back, the introduction of new skills during the 3D era, like Chivalry and Ninjutsu, added layers to gameplay. Following a similar approach now could revitalize the experience.
Why not involve the community? A competition for players to suggest new storylines or events could bring fresh ideas, and perhaps even introduce a volunteer event master to contribute to the team. There are passionate players who would gladly help make Ultima better—let’s give them a chance.
We need meaningful content, variety, and engagement to keep the game alive. I hope the developers recognize this and take action soon.

I haven't played NL since day one. Can you share a pic?
only pic i could find and i'm not logged in currently. Maroon dragon and not sure of stats. @Pawain could likely ratlle them off from memory.

The 800+ str White Wyrm would be interesting on prodo shards if they could be trained to 5 slots..
About the rare items and such you will be able to bring to prodo shards i am not sure, but i cant see anything with the same value as the tammer pets. They really missed the point on what they promissed and what they delivered.
Specific about emberwing, it may be a good pet on production i think, but its main appeal is the fact it is a 100% fire dragon, with fire breath and inferno abilities and 4 slots. Also the colors they spawn are unique to prodo shards.

There is only one hue (2726) for Emberwing on two body types, the red dragon and the brown dragon models. The body types are only seen on the CC, EC does not have multiple body types for dragons.
An update or comment here and there to legitimate complaints and suggestions, from a developer or a representative would go a LONG way to keeping NL and UO in general, alive. The silence and the disconnect between what players want to see and the lack of any information at all, as to what can be expected to be added, is killing the game, for me anyway.
If/when this new content gets added, if it's just more boss runs and a pet or two, there won't be much reason to carry on playing UO if i'm being honest.
We need events, quest lines, new skills like necro/chiv, better artifacts that are actually worth using. Crafters need to be worth making, they need a purpose other than repairing other players gear and feeding the congiarium BoD's for no proper reward. We also need better 4 or 2 slot pets that are actually fun/interesting to use. Guild houses need a better use and we should be allowed to easily relocate our houses to near our guild house imo.
Most of this seems like it would be INCREDIBLY EASY to add to the game, since it's already there in some form? Just change a few things there and there, and turn it on? Right? Like why are there only 4 champ spawns? Why is the lost lands 90% unpopulated? Why can we only mark runes at Obelisks/town? Why are there not more obelisks? Why why why? All we get is radio silence...
Thought i had seen more Emberwing red hues than that in NL Beta. But yeah, once NL went Live, i've only seen the light and dark ones.
If you want content, variety and engagement, there is no reason why you cannot create it yourself on New Legacy like we have done for years on the regular Shards!
New Legacy is an experiment with narrative questlines. Ultima Online was started as a sandbox game and still is on the main Shards. This was a deliberate design choice that gave the players (as a collective group) on each Shard a large stake in how their world evolved.

The original poster, Dadimvadim, stated, "We need meaningful content, variety, and engagement to keep the game alive. I hope the developers recognize this and take action soon."
There are plenty of MMOs that thrive on releasing new content annually or more frequently. The player base in those games concentrates on speed-running through content, hitting the new level-cap and endlessly grinding for new and better loot than the expansion before it. I've been there and I don't currently play any of those MMOs..
So, rather than Dadimvadim charging the developers with not providing sufficient or engaging enough content, I say the player base should engage each other and take ownership of the New Legacy Shard rather than just playing for two months then abandoning it because they hit the skillcap and have filled their bankbox and stables.
Again, just my opinion, and others are free to disagree.
