Mouse Threading Persistence

This is an issue I've had for about a year now, after updating to Windows 11. For some reason the mouse behaves erratically in the CC.

As you can see in the gif above, the mouse flips out when at the edges of gumps. This becomes -incredibly- annoying when there are a lot of elements you need to click and drag quickly.

The fix for this is to make sure you've got Mouse Threading turned on in the CC:

But here is the issue: if you check that option and restart the client, the checked state does not persist in your uo.cfg. In fact, the only way to get the uo.cfg to maintain that state is to manually add MouseThreading=on to every single uo.cfg for every character you play.

This still doesn't solve the issue as if you load or create a character without that turned on, it will over-write the state on all of the manually edited uo.cfgs.

A fix for this would be to make that checked state persist across everything.

Edit: I am running the client in administrator mode.

I apologize, I was unable to replicate this. If you have more information, please be sure to e-mail me. Thank you!

What were you not able to replicate, specifically? The mouse jitter or the checkbox not persisting?

I was unable to replicate both instances.

Okay, so here are the steps I can take to reproduce this bug for me every time. Again, I'm on Windows 11 and using the regular classic client. I'll ask that you make sure you are as well, and not using your god client.

I can log in to a character that has the mouse threading box still checked, and the issue does not occur. Notice the mouse does not shake at the edge of gumps.

But, if I close that client and log in to a separate character or account that does not have that box checked the jittering happens:

If I close that client and return to the first character, the setting no longer persists and the jittering occurs. I changed nothing in the settings, the checked box unchecked itself because of the previous character.

Hi Jepeth I have had the same problem. The key to get "run mouse in separate thread" to stick is that after you've changed it on one character you need to close the client down and restart it. Then you can log in to next char and change that one. Then logout and close client. Do a new restart and login and change next char and so on.

If you have logged in with serveral chars and then find one bad char with the box unticked all of the chars will be corrupted and the box will be unticked for all of them. Then you need to do it all over again for thoose char that have been logged in since you started the client.

I've succeded to get all chars with the box ticked so it's ok for now, but I've done the login one char tick box restart client and then next char and so on several times over the years.

I did not use said client. I was unable to replicate these steps.

In my testing, I did not have the mouse bouncing as you did, try as I might.
I was however able to tick the box, log out, close client, log back in and the box was still ticked.
I am using Windows 11 as well.

CC client has a problem with uo.cfg in that if you log in a char with different settings without fully closing the client some settings are overwritten by the new character's .cfg file.  I once changed the color of hostile targets, it took me ages to change it back to default till I understood what was happening.
@Chrille 's advice will solve the problem.

Logging in to every single character of mine and setting that box every so often is certainly something I can do, but not something I want to. While you could not replicate it, @Community Manager, does this mean it is not entered into the bug tracker as a submission? As we can see above, it’s certainly not just me this is happening to.

None of your guilidies have Win 11 and  r willing to load CC and try to see if this happens to them?
Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.
