Now that we've gotten a 3rd client with all the bells and whistles players have been asking for....

... can we ban users that log in with the unapproved 3rd party clients?

Allow any client to log in and go through the authorization, but, before they're able to select a server there is a check to ensure they're on an official or sanctioned client. If not? Have their accounts self-report and disconnect before the login server sends them a list of servers. Automatically send an email and follow the usual warning, 24h, 48h, 72h bans. 

Everyone got what they wanted with the CUO client, it's feature packed.
Surely no one that claimed they just wanted higher FPS, higher reso, and QOL features were lying to justify their abuse of the constellation client right... right??

    What good does that do, killing the CC? Sorry, I'm lost and I can't endorse that, as someone who exclusively plays the CC. I'm also very certain the Devs said they would NEVER do this.

    it could be better if it worked correctly and like the old cc does has some nice features but overall its not just install and play

    The problem is that it took the developers over 10 years to release a new client, and it’s web-based, which brings issues like lag and bugs. Meanwhile, some people working from their basements managed to create a significantly better client, and everyone is using it. To make things even more surprising, it’s said that their client is open-source. So, how is it that the developers at BS can’t create something similar?

    They either have the sack to ban paid accounts for cheating or not.

    I mean banning not always the best solution.. strip them naked and make goodie xmas bags with their items; for the legit or sneaky cheater subscriber.. remove them this year vet reward if they busted cheating.. remove them access to holidays gifts.. remove them access to felucca.. Make a public prison with their main character showing off in a cell for the duration of their Felucca ban.. with the reason/their crime the duration who reported him ,etc etc.. public shaming and more.

    So much could be done before perma banning.. specially after a decade of wild west.

    This is with this kind of move.. u get back a couple old school players and appeal to even more non hardcore players... good PR that gonna make people talk about UO on the MMOrpg scene...

    Imagine if people start streaming PvP with UOA on twitch.. cuz they can now compete since no more frame skipper..
    So rather than recognise the effort the botters went to, to set all that up - for the benefit of the players, to help get certain items, something you could never be bothered to do, you would rather drag people backwards to your neanderthal world?

    Define Bot.  Pressing a key to do an action?  That's a Bot in my business. Some would call it a macro on a computer.  Go ahead and accuse me of something and come to LS and take a video.  I have nothing to hide.  My players are known.  I basically have variations of 2 names. Except my account with LotR names.

    I just hope this does not reduce the spawn so I'll be getting 5 drops an hour....

    I adapt to the situation.. I was on the low end; demanding to perma ban them all.. now for a couple hours.. days at best, we got the bigger end.. let's be the grown up here and admit not all third party users are bad boy/losers.. look the state of the CC.. look how was enforce the TOS for the past decade.. just try to go navigate a boat with CC on high sea..


    @Pawain Personally I'm not, it's not even a macro in my opinion.. I call that the scissors/banana technic.. u open the journal and voilà.
    Use a loop if u want.. but i'm not!
    Like a genius i trained stealing like a big boy, from 50 to 113 in june (i was like let's train .1 a day at this point).. took me ~8 days couple hours per day.. today it's down to 75.. I hate myself for it.

    With a loop your going to train faster.. i got no life so i don't really care if casual train faster.. at this point i'm hypocritical.. if someone should care it's BS.. not me; not affecting me.. they losing advanced token sells.. do as u please.. to me it mean u coming to play end game faster.

    With that u wont be able to make a bot.

    You know what affecting me? that polar bear on the loop spamming gate in ATL on the path to Luna bank for his poo poo vendors.. perma ban that guy 2-3 time over, i'm good with that!! -.-

    In response to the Polar Bear gate.

    On Baja the EM put an ice patch at the top of Luna steps as deco.  OMG I fell off my horse at least 15 times since I have to run every where on that shard to turn in Artisan BODs.

    That's more annoying than the gate bear.

    or it's another lord frodo i've seen one night within them third party user?

    It's possible that it's better. Granted the CC isn't perfect. Never once have I worried about having muh FPS, resizable windows, or whatever junk I don't need. I know I'm not in the minority: a LOT of people surely still use the CC. We're not all elite pvp pro gamers surely like yourself. I also don't feel like giving out my password to a non-uo/broadsword/ea website, which by the way, is completely exposed in daylight. Ain't gonna happen, chief!

    I'm the same on on the FPS and game window.  I am fine with CC.  But there are some QoL things the Classic UO client does that makes it my choice.

    I would go back to CC if they would add those QoL things to CC.

    Auto open doors, auto open corpses (don't have to be in war mode), Dbl click to move an item to a container. Dbl clk gold to put in pack. Choose the container things go in.  Macros and screen settings saved with a name that you can select on any toon.  Grid containers choice, so you can see things buried in your pack or on a vendor.
    Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.

    I have to agree with you pretty much completely on this. The primary reason I even sought alternatives is because the main clients are quite bare bones in terms of QoL features you would expect from MMO's today. The web client is pretty close to having everything I would want from an alternative, but it is still lacking some QoL features the standalone has that would greatly improve the overall experience of the web client.

    My bad, on day ~7.. was getting chassed by 2 reds during a Skara Brae invasion.. I've seen this new face.. Lord Frodo within the bots.. couldn't tell if he was legit; seen him only one night, during 2 invasion and was a little busy.

    Since, I wonder if it was you playing with them that night.
