If I understood it as right, I read on General Chat (Atlantic) that there have been bans, not sure if they are temporary or perma bans though... neither did I understand much about what...
From what I understand (talking to someone today on ATL) they did a mass banning of people using 3rd party clients on Wednesday/Thursday. Again this is all from the 1 person I talked to about it, but sounds like there were no warnings given and everyone "caught" was perma banned as per the email they received. I saw in GC that 2 people said they were quitting due to how it was handled.
I was wondering why ATL has looked a little scarce on people this morning.
I'm still here and I don't think people should be allowed to use 3rd party programs, but after turning a blind eye for years and then to (seemingly) pick a random date on the calendar to action them without putting out a clear message of what their stance was and the repercussions of not following their direction. I feel bad for some people that were just using the 3rd party programs on 1 account to just improve the QoL... I know I've thought about using them when crafting because it's just tedious. Personally I think they should have put something on UO.com that said "as of X day anyone using a 3rd party client will be actioned..." and then anyone that decided to ignore that deserved to be banned.

If 3rd party clients were allowed and then the company decided to ban without warning, I would agree. Accounts have been banned for years, it is nothing new. And, it is no secret, that using 3rd party clients is bannable.
Without knowing for certain, I suspect the people quitting because "how it was handled" are.....suspect. Maybe some would leave on principle alone but after all it is just a game and there are far more important things upon which to be principled.

Multiple warnings were given.
Helpful response as usual.... care to share the proof?
Also want to share where it says "using unapproved 3rd party clients is a bannable offense"? To my knowledge it doesn't exist because it would require them to tell us which 3rd party programs (ie UOA etc) ARE approved...which is just "best guess" imo. While you can argue "people should know Orion isn't approved", without the Devs coming out to say that exactly there can be an argument made that since they turned a blind eye for so long (YEARS) to cheating they were fine with it.

Kyronix did say somewhere last chance to stop the shenanigans.
I see where you're coming from on the blind eye but he also wasn't the lead until recently. It's just people thought he was going to be another softy and he's standing tall. I can respect that.
I resubscribed just for this. If they keep it up, I'll bring even more accounts of mine back online. Way to go team, and to those who were banned... who? Exactly, no one cares, you won't be missed! Those banned abused the game for so long: ran bot trains, RMT'd, botted, scripted this and that, gained massive advantages in PVP. I won't miss that guy that ran 20+ sampires at all the ToTs for the last few years 24/7 and same with the Matriarch. I won't miss the 30 stealth/RC/healer bots that were at the Matriarch either. Oh I really really REALLY especially won't miss the guy that used these clients to control the housing market. They act surprised... when the Devs go out of the way to implement systems, like the new idoc system, because you're being such a little POS with the housing market, YEA MAYBE IT'S TIME TO CONSIDER STOPPING WHAT YOU'RE DOING?
The writing was on the wall, go go @Kyronix BAN THEM ALL!
edit; I'll give the dev team a little treat and buy 10k sovs for some of these limited time goodies on the store. Cheers!

Yes I do. You could also copy/paste a screenshot from there to here since you are so advanced.

Scorched earth? They didn't ban everybody using third-party clients, so not exactly scorched earth, otherwise a lot more people would have been banned (and plenty of people chimed in that they weren't banned and were using such clients)
Amnesty periord? Is 18 months not enough for people? Is 7 months not enough for people? How much more of an amnesty period do people need?
*We wanted to give you an update on our next step to crush the unapproved automatic gameplay in UO. At this time these changes will only apply to EJ accounts. If you are flagged, you will not be able to log back in the shard once you log out. When you try to log back into that shard you will see a message such as this “Your access to this shard is currently suspended due to a violation of our terms of service. Our review process may take up to 72 hours to review the ticket but know that EJ accounts that are caught cheating or exploiting will be Perma banned.
This is the first step we are doing to help stop the cheating in UO. Please know additional measures are on the way.*

He was correct.
Glad my little noodle could use the internet to prove something. He growing!
Clear as mud... also pretty sure you took that part from Kyronix out of context...that was in regards to using some glitch/script for house placement.
As I said before.... Kyronix never came out to say "using X clients is illegal and you will be perma banned if you don't follow the rules". If he would have done this then I'd have zero issue with perma banning anyone after that clear announcement.
Saying 7+ months ago "knock off it of or you won't like what will happen" isn't clear enough. Again not justifying people using Orion or whatever...especially the ones using it to bot/script/cheat. I'm talking about the handful of people that were just using it for the QoL things is has. I would personally love to make all trees into stumps. I also think crafting is boring and would love to be able to have something that does that for me. I think it's unfortunate that those folks who just wanted a better QoL and eventually started using a 3rd party because they was a long standing blind eye get hit with a perma ban.
