Limitation

@Mariah in Discord in the Skills Combat subsection, there is guide by @mis "New simple and effective method to raise Healing." This guide on Discord points back to the UO Forums.  I have not gone through all of the posts but if there are others like this, they will be lost when the sun finally sets on the UO Forum empire.

Perhaps the team thought of this and there is a solution forthcoming.

Mis has been advised to update those posts to include the information instead of the link. I believe he has started a web site to transfer his guides to.

I guess that from the answer given, one might understand that, at least at the moment, there is no plans for the UO Forums to be archived at least as read-only content to be accessed either from links or through seaches ?

If so, that is a real loss for Ultima Online, to my opinion, there is so much players' knowledge in the Forums and to have it just go "poof" is a mistake, as I see it.

@Community Manager, could you please try to pass on to the developers the idea to save the UO Forums at least as read-only, archived content, that could be linked to or searched ? Thank you.

If you bothered to read you'd have seen them saying they can't...

    Asked and answered.

Question: Can the UO Forum be put into a “read only” archive mode? So we can still have access to all the great info that has been posted over the years?

Answer: Kyronix: The underlying forum software has reached end of life and no longer meets necessary security requirements. As a result, we'll be bringing the forums internal and unfortunately cannot provide a public-facing read-only option.

Whether you like or not like the answer, it makes no difference, analyze that.

Ya @mis ; is already compiling her info.

Maybe ask violet to make a section, like returning new players.  Post your guides there and give an level.  Like beginning swordsman, advanced, elite.  Whatever categories you decide.

Somewhere we can send the NOOBs.

Do they really have a backup of the forums?  Aren't the pages kept on the forum website?

Someone needs to look into this,  @Popps !

There is one thing that I do not understand, if the problem is that the forum software no longer meets security requirements, if the Forum content is archived and made "read-only" and thus, no longer needing players to log in with their account info (which can be deleted not being any longer needed), why would this still be a problem ?

Can someone with tech knowledge please explain it ? Thank you.

    Here's your tech answer:
