An interesting answer from Kyronix in the latest Five on Friday Questions

Housing Expansion
Question
Will there be a housing expansion or more land to place houses? 
Answer
Kyronix: We're currently working on updates to the 
post-IDOC house placement scheme, and those changes will be released 
with Publish 122, currently slated for February of 2026. As far as new 
landmasses and additional areas to place houses... funny you should 
mention that.

I wonder what "funny you should mention that" means

    That's awesome!

    I made a long winded pitch about the lack of housing on Atl a while ago. There's so much unused area it just makes sense to put additional housing areas to keep the prices in check. A max storage house should not cost 1-3 plat.

    I have a feeling they are talking about that orc dungeon or one of the others.  Whichever is in a new area.

    But more Castle space would be nice!

    Rather then more Castle space, I would prefer to see smaller footprint houses be given the same number of lockdowns as Castles by making it possible, on smaller footprint houses, to add additional floors.

    In the end, that most players want is more storage place. Castles have too large a footprint and to add lots and lots of Castles more landmass would be needed which also adds more technical needs.

    By allowing to "raise" lockdowns with additional floors also with smaller footprint homes, no new landmass would be needed and even players with smaller footprint houses would be able to increase their lockdowns up to the max possible of Castles, by adding new floors.

    @Community Manager, @Kyronix, want to consider this ?

    We will see what TC brings but I presume new housing space refers to existing areas that are blocked from placing houses.
