I'll ask in the forum section and see what they say to do.  Tuesday.  I'm out of town.
I got it https://community.stratics.com/threads/help-needed-to-access-forums.434860/ ; @Mordeed keep an eye on your inbox. I know a couple of the Stratics team are fairly active here

I know my preference doesn't matter, but agree ending the forum is a mistake. When there are certain topics and they have many posts; it becomes a bit troublesome (at least for me) keeping track of the original topic.

Again, I'm Discord handicap for sure so maybe it's just a me problem and these aren't issues but the forums to me are an actual website versus Discord is like our in game chat / journal... you sign into a channel to see what is being said but if you aren't paying attention you become lost and eventually the original topic has been lost in a wall of words. I've popped over to general chat in Discord a handful of times and I'm instantly lost. I also get an email from Discord saying XYZ tagged me but have no idea where because I think it's whenever someone tags "everyone".

I can see why the Devs are in favor of making the switch though; it seems like it's easier to squelch/block people on Discord which largely seems like a positive but I also think it makes it easier to ignore people (on topics they just don't like rather than inappropriate topics). Here on the forums it's very easy to pop open a thread labeled "XYZ Bug" and see if it's been acknowledged and how long it's been unresolved... if I was a Dev I know I wouldn't want that sitting around. Much easier to sweep it under the rug and hope whoever brought it up forgets about it.

It's not just a you problem, Discord is good for what it's intended purpose is, voice, Video and text chatting. It's lack the organization we are accustomed to with forums, hence my earlier statement in a post that said "I use Discord for discord things and Forums for Forum things" i'm not a tech geezer, nor do I refuse to learn it because i have used it for years, I just prefer the forum model for my communication on topics for asking questions and getting answers.

Yes I think you are correct... I will likely be a lot less active on Discord since I prefer the forum style of things. I'll just use Stratics to fill the gap on the forum style communication (with each other).

This whole interaction says it all.  UO needs to find a way to keep the forums going.

I can say these forums have been super inactive over the last several months (feels like the better part of a year), i check it at least once a week and I see very few new discussions popping up under general from the previous check, and this went on for literal months.

I don't login to discord that often, but the forum inactivity probably did coincide with the UO discord server starting up.   -maybe I'll login to discord more often...
Remove or change casting focus & poison immunity it reduces the need for "Player Skill" it's garbage. rant2 Bring timing back and eliminate chance in pvp!

Question for Mariah or Fenneko:  Why do just some parts of the UO Discord seem to have a "post" button and allow you to put a title on your post? (See screenshot below from the home-and-garden section.)  I confess I don't use Discord often and today was the first day I tried it on my PC rather than on the phone.  It seems like being able to put a title on a post and replies being organized under that post provides formatting and organization that is much more similar to a forum than what you see in other parts of the UO Discord channel and could be really helpful for people trying to find information quickly.  However, maybe I'm just missing something obvious.  Would appreciate some help understanding what I seem to be missing.  Thanks!

A prior EA press release indicated a desire to close the "acquisition" around 2Q CY2026.  With many acquisitions, comes scrutiny, via bean counters, management consultants, etc.

A seasoned software executive will often drill into a set of areas to determine "what's next", if there is an acqusition or other simliar thing that may shake up the status quo.  One such topic that comes up is the issue of "bifurcation".  In the context of UO, that may lead to questions of "client" bifurcation (are there multiple clients, and if so why, and how to streamline), as well as "server" bifurcation (production, NL, etc, how many minutes are spent by users in each vs. time invested by an engineering/support team).

So it's possible you may hit on something interesting in your post.

In that particular area.  You hit New Post and This appears.

Put in a title.  Click the Enter message line.

Its very easy to Paste stuff, so just paste your pic in any of the text and it goes to the picture area.
    Can drag and drop also.

Easy to make picture posts there.

I will never have discord on my phone, so I don't know if that is different.

I see so many screenshots with black background.  How do you read that?

Those areas are for more permanent content that people will be able to look up and refer back to, where the 'general' areas are more for just chatting. Choose carefully where you post, there are lots of different sections.
@pawain ; For me the black background is the default setting. For anyone who wants to change it, click on the 'settings' button bottom left next to your name, then in the left column scroll down to app settings.

Pros and cons but i agree we need a forum. Discord is awesome connecting people that play other shards that won't post here. You get quicker answers to simple questions that don't need an entire forum post but it's so easy to miss important posts/threads that are sunken out of sight. The buy/sell section is super active.

When you're tagged in discord you click the inbox next to the ? top right. From there you will check mentions to see what you've been tagged in. Can also see friend requests there and unreads.

I'm with Vic. Discord and the forum have it's own place in the game.

I'd personally like to see them keep this but shorten the categories down to maybe just general.

I bought my Tacoma for 21,711.  That was a number I sent back.

That was Feb 2020.  They send me a bi monthly email to buy it back at that price.

I have actually read one with a very dark brown (almost chocolate) paper and white letters.  But to fully answer your question, yes they do make black books with white lettering.

I have read many books in my time. I was sick a lot as a child and would be home with nothing to do but read. I only read about one a month now due to workload and other factors in my life.
