Pets get confused

Often in battle, pets get 'confused and often lead to the pet attacking the owner often. Please fix this. In the midst of heals and attacks commands, they often get confused.

This is not a problem that I have encountered unless I target myself/pet and attack.

Let me clarify, I'm a Chiv Archer Tamer, you may be a mage and the targeting or pet gets confused in a flurry of commands.

For healing and offsensive spells, you want to avoid using the "cursor" version of targeting.  For instance, in EC, create a HealSelf macro -> drag the heal spell to a macro, right click the heal icon, and have it target self.  This avoids a cursor coming up.

Pet targetting has no way to avoid using a cursor, so you have to limit the cases where a cursor is involved outside the pet targetting.  In at least EC, use the cursor target current to avoid having to manually select things.  (*) (**)

That aside, pets generally should [be changed to] ignore commands to attack their owner.

(*) A common EC macro I use:  Target Nearest Enemy, Whisper "All Kill", WaitForTarg, CursorTargetCurrent

(**) Technically, you can avoid targeting with pets, by using "All Guard Me", and then aggrssing monsters (via AOE spells, war mode, etc).  The pet will then defend you.

Pets will wonder off after any target that attacks them.

You can go to Khaldun. Clear the mobs around the 3 skeleton archers that are in a triangle and don't move.

Use the method you want, tell the pet to attack one from a distance.  Invis yourself.  The pet will get attacked by another archer and head to it.   The pet will never get close enough to attack anything.  He could stay there all day going from one to the next.

Also when a pet is surrounded they will not kill anything.  They will start to attack but stop because
Something attacks them and they change targets.

I call that the death spin.  Novice tamers think their pet dies from EoO.  Pets die in a crowd because they change targets when attacked. And end up never hitting a target.

The question is, how dumb should a pet be?  Only attack when told?  Or be able to enter an area and kill on its own.
Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.

I get it now.  My solution is for the dev's to create an option to block war on pets.  I will have to take a look when I get home and see if it is not there already.  It is there for block war on friendly and party members. I think.....

I think all clients have block war on:  Then give choices.  CUO just does not let you do it.  CC brings up a yes/no gump.

In Tram when you say yes when it says you will flagged, it lies.  I wish they would replace the gump with a sys msg.
