Hidden chests: trying to figure things out
Hey! Can I do a quick headcount to see if more people suffer from the following?
Tonight I've tried to find some hidden chests in Terathan Keep. I did find some, started at the entrance and then slowly moved to the area west, with the swampy center in it.
Looking back I maybe found a total of around 30 chests? Somewhere around that number anyway. I would have kept a better total if I knew how the results would add up. I was there for about one and a half hour, and then I spend 30 mins being resskilled at the entrance, because I can't manage that bloody rope ladder for the life of me.
So I just wanted to put in some numbers. In total I found 1 chest with a deco egg. And 1 chest with 1 Umbrascale bracelet. All the other chests had the bandage/invis potions/smoke bomb/gem bag/lockpicks combo.
Didn't matter if the hidden chests where crates, wooden chests, metal chests. They mostly ended up with that combo except for two chests.
Now to say I'm underwhelmed would be an understatement. Same thing happened to me last night. Almost all hidden chests contained that bandage/invis potions/smoke bomb/gem bag/lockpicks combo. I hardly get anything else. Is this really working as intended?
I did get lucky on day one with an effigy. And on day one of the update it seemed the mix of chests with maps, eggs and that item-combo (that I am starting to despise) was a lot better. But now it's just starting to look weird.
Stats: I run with 2276 luck. I haven't altered that. Yet. I might test if that influences anything?
Anyone else would like to run and share numbers with me to see if this is a bug?

Maybe u went from trying to win the jackpot to getting strike by lightning odds wise:
Depending on this logic with the actual studio.. You could always buy more "tickets" on top of increasing your odds, u could multiply them.. you know; the totally not legit, legit stuff.

The results are about the same for me as wearing the luck suit.... no "rare" drops but a mix of everything else. That would make sense; I do think that I read luck only helps getting the rare items to drop so the "other stuff" is just random regardless of luck (I believe).

I can agree high luck on UO always felt "weird" when you don't think about it.
You do Bone Daemon in Doom with a dexer; no luck.. every ~20 Bone Daemon you had a decent piece of jewelry as a keeper.
You do it on a tamer full luck most items were TRASH but u'd get something very decent every ~100 Bone Daemon, if you were lucky.
(same logic of higher luck = more grind.. but for better stuff)
Like (random numbers) if you have 0 luck u could get 4 mods items with 30% max properties
With high luck u could get 6 mods items with 50% max properties.
The high luck items pool is just way bigger (with a lower random chance to be better).. wich explained that feeling of crappier loot and harder to get good items. Increasing the RNG range for better stuff, also increase the trash roll chances.
Before u had one chance on 30 to get max roll after it's 1 out of 50 with 2 more mods (almost exponential cuz of the added mods).. more room to get shitty mods/rolls.
Again, in both case (here for the rare stuff from chests) high luck increase your ODDS at getting the good stuff.. it does not increase your LUCK, some could say it's the opposite and it would make sense, imo.
Edit: same logic would applied to champion spawn with my experience.. A lot more trash loot overall with high luck tamers.. way less good keepers.. but once in a while (very rare) u had that automatic BiS (usually weapons) from a champ spawn with high luck.
Same logic as the chests one except u won't get the more trashy loots with lower luck.. wich is why people tend to run on lower luck.. but yeah your odds are better with higher luck for the rare stuff.
If you are lucky having 0,003 instead of 0,002 won't change anything for you.

For the first time, since Mythic/BS took over 2 decade ago.
All the risk vs reward sandbox game out there wants to be UO.. while UO try to be something else since mythic took over, almost 20 yrs ago.
Edit: flash news.. more than 50% of subsciber ain't playing UO.
If you consider automation and cheaters.. more than 95%

PS: BUT i can use my brain.. that pool u talking about is TINY. try to use that brain from time to time.
You increase your odds of max roll on a 6 face dice.. vs a 24 face.. vs..
Edit: nvm u don'T deserve a Popps explanation for my comparison with the trashier high luck loots while MFing.
Your niter pool is TINY compare to the rare stuff from chests. Try to feel a difference between 2 chance on 100k vs 3 chance on 100k.. vs 2 chance on 6 vs 3 chance on 6. (good old logic; 50% better odds)
