BALRON BONE ARMOR issue

FedexFedex Posts: 2
Good morning everyone, this is my first time writing on this forum, but I feel compelled to write because I believe I have suffered an injustice.
As many of you will know, there has been a problem with some Balron Bone Armour, which was mistakenly deleted from the server. This happened to me with two characters who found themselves without chests overnight. Mistakes can happen, because we all make them and no one wants to point fingers about this.
The problem is this: I owned two Balron Bone Armour with a horned enchantment, refinement on physical and fire, and it was also blessed. I had paid over 500 million each at the time. I was given back an account-bound chest (which means I cannot resell it in the future and therefore has a value of 0), I was given back the enchant, but I was not given back the refinement or the bless deed. The GM who returned the two chests to me said that there was nothing he could do about it and that it was not up to him. He advised me to write on the forum that he was sorry and that he understood my sense of injustice.
In my opinion, it is unfair that, because of their mistake, I, who am not at fault, should ultimately suffer the consequences.

Agree here.  The simple solution would be to recover the saved backup before it happened - drop it on a test server the GM's can access and then allow them to log into your toon - verify the stats and GIVE YOU BACK THE EXACT THING YOU LOST.    I'll never understand the poor ability to manage stuff like this.  It is one thing to run a delete script its another to do it properly and export the deteted information to a file before running the delete.   LIke 'delete from All_ITems where item ID = xyz.    Do a select * from all_items where itemID = xyz and export that to a file first.  Then if anything goes wrong you know what the F you deleted.

And yes I know its more complicated than a single table and field - but the point stands - whatever criteria you were going to use to mass delete - you always save off the result of that selection first so if you have to bring it back you can.  Other option is soft delete it.  IE all records have a delete flag.  They can sit in the DB until you actually want to purge them. That would be the simple way here - soft delete then wait a few days. When it all looks good then purge the soft delete. You could literally put a view on the DB that the game runs off of to only 'see' items where delete flag = N.   Deleted items could live on for some time before you actually purge them.  Oh - need to bring back Phil's Armor on his Roxxor Jo character?  Set delete flag = 'N' for Roxxor Jo.

I emphathize with your plight. I do. However, my experience with this "justice" you speak of as far as a game originally designed with this being among the virtues in mind, I've found BEH to be ellusive at best.

The folks that take-up the "Broadsword" for support leave a bit to be desired. Especially in prior years. I'm not sure if it is unwillingness to assist or complexity with doing so, or something else... but having been on the receiving end of extreme loss (i.e. 20 years of pixel collection) with no recourse, I can only suggest the following :

For Broadsword, I offer the mantra's of AHM and MU. Meditate on these more often.

For you @Fedex, I offer CAH and OM. May they wash away your claims and needs.

They should now set up an email title for people to use with individual issues. @Community Manager  so they are not lost in the bulk right now.

The only way that would work is if they had those stats in the data base.  If so, a player should be able to get special attention in this situation.
Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.
  • The balron armor that was enhanced can be enhanced with 100% success chance, without the need of a tool. So you won't lose the enhancement you made, you just need choose what you had before. :)

@Community Manageryou are missing the the pojnt from OP, his armor is now account bound (negative value), he had it refined , prob for extra resistances,  pretty expensive if you buy those for and he had personal bless deed, most likely issued for this particular char and not replaceble. Out of 4 lost items/properties he was made whole only 1.5 in my opinion

Firstly, the two Balron Bone Armour items are now account bound, which means I can no longer sell them or trade them with other players. Secondly, they were blessed, and thirdly, I had refined both chests.
OK, they gave me the chance to get the Horned enchantment back without having to use the forged metal. Do you think this is a fair solution, given that what happened was not my fault?
