Huge Thanks & A Few More Suggestions!
First off, I just want to give a huge thank you to the dev team for finally listening to the community and making our suggestions a reality. It’s been a long time coming, and it really feels like there’s a fresh wave of communication and collaboration between players and the dev team. This latest event is proof of that — great work all around!
That said, I’d like to take this opportunity (once this event wraps up!) to re-share and expand on some ideas that could keep the momentum going:
or even a-
City Buff Stones in Felucca
Currently, city buff stones are only available in Trammel, which reds and criminals can't access due to facet restrictions. This limits PvP and red character engagement. The suggestion is simple: mirror the city buff stones in Felucca, so red players can also benefit from these systems in their own facet. It promotes balance and inclusivity in gameplay without affecting Trammel mechanics. -
Bounty Hunting System for Reds
Not a return to head-chopping, but a fresh take — a “soul catching” system where players can hunt down and collect the essence or bounties of notorious reds. Adds depth and fun to PvP without being overly punishing. -
Remove Guards from Felucca Cities (Start with Yew 1st)
This one’s straightforward — Felucca is the PvP facet. Having guard zones in cities here feels outdated and counter to the spirit of Fel. Removing guards would bring back the danger and thrill of navigating cities in Felucca, just like the old days. -
Allow Reds into Trammel & Malas (Non-Combat Access)
This idea was mentioned before and even had support from Mesanna a few years ago. The concept is to allow red characters to enter Trammel and Malas, but restrict their ability to attack anyone. This opens up roleplay, social, and crafting opportunities for reds without disrupting the PvM safety those facets are known for. -
Blood Dungeon Items (60-Day Lifespan)
Bring back the idea of time-limited PvP gear — similar to the old no-names. These items could only be obtained or used in PvP zones and would encourage continuous activity while keeping gear balanced and seasonal. -
PvP Event Coordinator NPC
Introduce an in-game NPC (or automated system) that runs monthly PvP events across main shards. These could be king-of-the-hill battles, capture-the-flag, or even shard-vs-shard rankings. Something structured to keep the community engaged and the competition alive. or even a dedicated PVP EM.
Comments
1. Being red is very much besides the point these days, so buff stones in Felucca not a bad idea. You have to go red quite often, to deal with griefing blues, it is almost the blues that are the problem, due to the added protections they get - everyone in Felucca knows how to play Felucca these days.
2. Yep - right at the start of the game, hunting Red's head, and trying to hand them in for bountry, had to be one of the most fun and exciting things ingame for a new player.
3. I may disagree with removing guards in cities - as if we were to want to attract blues or crafters, they should have some safe spaces around the Blacksmiths anvil etc. However - there are some weird guard zones that could be removed - such as Marble Isle entrance to Lost Lands, or Khaldun Isle entrance to Lost Lands.
4. I am not in favour of 4. Allowing reds into Malas/Illshenar etc. I'd rather they allowed blues into Felucca, and made all the rulesets Feluccan.
5. Yep.
6. Yep, something.
2. I am okay with chopping off heads. But UO may not want this done. So some system like essence might be very cool if done correctly.
3. I also disagree with totally removing guard zone. The guard lines should somehow be marked more clearly. This is a tough ask, and would probably take its own thread. But Cookie mentioned how its possible to grief on a blue. There are real problems with the flagging system (not necessarily going orange but being flagged in general). Healing someone should flag the healer. You turn orange for healing a orange if you are blue, BUT NOT if you are Orange. That needs to be changed.
4. I do not see how allowing reds and criminals to malas would break anything. There is already well known glitches to get red/criminal players into malas. And if there are buff stones in fel I see no advantage given to red/crim players in tram.
5. This idea would require its own thread. To get much deeper and have much more information about said items. On the surface I am against it. As a pvper I do not like the idea of making a character and relying on a piece of armor I might lose in 60 days (rendering the character unplayable). Again, would need more info on the actual system.
6. I LOVE THE IDEA! Having said that, I think it would be extremely difficult and time consuming (as most things worth doing are). But if the devs were committed and serious about it, its possible. Again, I would love to see it.
#5 Hard nope, those artifacts were already long removed from the game and I'd be surprised if this code for those style of broken AF artifacts even exist anymore. The ones that exist are very limited and are even being mostly replaced by ToT artifacts.
#2 & #6 Seems ok depending on the actual details. Simple player contributed bounty system if done right is whatever. Same with a simple leaderboard that is automatic.
#1 Depends if this was intentional or not by the devs. If oversight fine, if intentionally left out of fel then tough.
I will be slow to reply because I cannot log in/stay logged in to the forums.
Make this your signature if you are tired of Vendor Search being broken, over FIVE YEARS and counting.
Vendor search rendered useless after Publish 106 – Forsaken Foes on August 14, 2019.
Just to clarify — #1 and #4 are essentially addressing the same issue, which is that red characters can't access city buffs due to facet restrictions.
If the devs can simply clone the existing Trammel city buff stones and place them in Felucca, that would solve the issue cleanly and keep everything within the red-accessible world.
However, if that turns out to be too complex or requires heavy changes/code, then allowing reds to enter Trammel (or Malas) without PvP capabilities would also be a fair workaround.
No one’s asking for reds to be able to attack in blue lands — just the ability to access the same utility systems like buffs, vendors, or city loyalty perks.
It's all about giving red players access to the same tools, without breaking the spirit of safe zones.
The sash is OP because it has FC!!!
Next day.
Give us the FC buff in cities.
Bounty hunting - sounds interesting, and I liked the old-school stuff, but that it would be abused if you have any decent rewards/bounties.
Removing guards from Fel cities? Nope, unless the only people you want visiting those cities are people looking for PvP. Not that a lot of people who don't live in Fel are visiting Fel cities, but for those who try to live almost exclusively in Fel, and so are doing bank stuff, etc. with their non-PvP characters, they'll head to the Trammel counterpart or Luna.
How about revamping Buccaneer's Den, no guard zones in that area, and making sure that not only are all services covered but maybe spice it up a bit. I've often thought some cities could use a makeover or at least a few additions.
Yes, yes!! More luck indeed
