so my crafter who 99.9 % of the time is imbuing does not need it

If you are buying the items you want imbued, you don't need it.
It does add resists to armor items, so if you are making armor to imbue, you want arms Lore on the crafter.
It adds DI to weapons. If you want that, keep it.
It does nothing in the imbuing stage.
Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.
