High Seas and King's Collection 50% off

Just saw this in the store when making my monthly Sovereign purchase this morning.
A Goblin, a Gargoyle, and a Drow walk into a bar . . .

They just need to start selling gold and everything RMT'ers are selling (easily detectable with the tool mesanna got).. instead of doing sales on that king's collection for them to refill their inventory.

HS is still 7,49 too expensive while promoting automation.
So rather than recognise the effort the botters went to, to set all that up - for the benefit of the players, to help get certain items, something you could never be bothered to do, you would rather drag people backwards to your neanderthal world?

Leave attended paying accounts alone, these people go thru a lot of trouble to automate the game.

It’s comical to me you are so frightened of somehow bod scripters get some sort of advantage.

Not the same sale, I'm afraid. The sale that lasts till the end of the month is for items bought from Ultima store for sovereigns. The high seas and king's collection sale was from EA store for cash money. As far as I can tell, logging in to EA store, that one has ended.

Yes I think you are correct Mariah - would have been nice if they mentioned that one in their email. I would have purchased one.

Maybe for another thread, but if they (EA, whoever is in charge of the Ultima Online section of the EA.com store, not the Sovereigns in-game store but the paying real life money store) were paying attention or thinking about how to raise revenue from the EA.com side of things, I'd do the following:
    • Leave Sovereign prices where they are at (unless you want to do a big discount for say the 2,000 and 5,000 Sovereigns pack, like say $15 and $40).  Bring more older items into the Ultima Store in-game (this is more for another thread).
    • Drop Time of Legends to $10.  I know it was free at one point during launch, but for anybody gone during that time, it's now $20 US. It's almost 10 years old and *should* be free like the other expansions before it, but let's compromise and make it $10.  At $20, I did purchase it for my main account when I came back (I liked Savage Empire/Martian Dreams), but I'm not going to spend $40 to upgrade my kids' accounts when they have enough content to churn through already, and I think the same would hold true for any new player. At $10, I would very much consider it, but at $20 there are things I'd rather spend money on for them in the game.
    • High Seas Booster - $5.  Really, it should be free since it's actually important to gameplay in general and it's celebrating 15 years later this fall and there are encounters that require all party members to have HS. I almost picked it up when it was on sale for my kids (I was a day one buyer of HS when it came out and bought it for secondary accounts at the time) and wished I would have but would definitely not spend $30 for two copies.
    • 7th Character Slot - $10.  At this point (I'm sure it's been around for 20+ years), the people who really wanted it have already purchased it. At $10, again, like ToL, it'll be tempting for people to add to second/third/fourth accounts, and new players might want that extra slot.
    • Housing and Bank Storage Upgrade - $10.  Again, at this point, those who really wanted it would have already bought it a decade or so ago, and frankly I think there should have already been an additional free storage upgrade for bank boxes and houses at this point (beyond High seas//Mondain), the servers can handle it. UO is, at its core, a game at least partly about item collection and management, as many MMOs are. I'm pretty sure I bought this, but it does not appear to be active on my subbed account, as I logged in with more than 150 items in my bank boxes but can't put more than 150 items in them now.  I've got an email archive that goes back to the 1990s that I need to search for my receipt to make sure I purchased it, but I digress.  At $10, many people would easily pick it up for their secondary accounts (and I would as well).
    • Gothic Theme Pack - $5.  This came out 14 years ago next month. Again, those who really wanted it, have already purchased it. The Chest of Sending should be in the Sovereigns store, and it's silly that we can't buy an Advanced Training Dummies from Gothic owners and use it in our house unless we own the Gothic Theme Pack.
    • Rustic Theme Pack - $5, see Gothic Theme Pack. I get it, people are willing to shell out for the raised bed, but I'm not going to spend $10 on either pack at this point, as there are so many other add-ons from the in-game store that I'd rather purchase first.  At $5, I'd feel it was more reasonable.
    • King's Collection Theme Pack - $5 - again, it's over a decade old, and while it has a lot of nice goodies, it's probably not worth $10 for a lot of people, especially new players (I'd love to know sales figures on the recent $5 discount for it).  At $5, plenty of people would probably buy it for additional houses, or to sell the items in-game.
Oh, and allow those who are subscribed for more than a year or two the chance to add a second account for half-price.  Yes, that would drop revenue from the people who have multiple accounts, but how many additional accounts would be sold to people with only one account, who want a second house?

Or do a second house for an account at half the cost of a full account.

I want to support UO as much as possible, but it's not going to be through the EA.com store, it'll be through the in-game Ultima Store. At full-price, given the age of some of these things, they don't feel quite worth it, whereas I can spend Sovereigns in the Ultima Store and get stuff I really want and not just kind of want or need.

And speaking of the Ultima Store, break up more of the room deco packs into individual items for sale at 200 or 400 Sovereigns. I'm not paying $12 for some stuff but would spend $2 or $4 on a few individual items.

Thank you for attending my Ted Talk on UO purchases.
