Armor Repairing

Repost my idead from discord, not a high priority, but it seems that newbies don't know that armor can be repaired, the idea seems not complicated, it would be good if newbies understood the basic mechanics through the game.
The community will always help and explain, but people don't always know what question to ask, so such topics are not often discussed and people remain in the dark.

I think we need a short narrative story after the end of the main one that would take us to the NPC crafters and give us a piece of armor, a repair dead, but warn us that the repair dead is just for test, only crafters are engaged in repairing armor.
This little narrative story could also explain how the repair box works.

the problem is that in phase 0 and 1 there is very little armor with this mechanic, almost all armor in the first phases comes with a random number of durability, so those who were not in the beta, left early after the release or came late are not aware of this mechanic (that you can repair from 25 to 150 and about repair box).

That would be a good idea.  A lot of newbies coming from other MMOs are going to have the mindset of constantly churning through gear as they "level up" not realizing that UO is not that type of game (unless you make it that) and that we can easily hold onto gear for months or even years (I have some older stuff that turned out to be valuable/useful).

I think it's not so much the 'repair' idea, it's the 'restore' than allows crafters to use the 'repair' function to raise the durability on looted items from 25/25 to 150/150.  I've mentioned it a few times in game when I've logged in my crafter - and even demanded one warrior hand over his plate armor to be restored :D

It is, obviously, documented in the wiki, but not everyone reads it, or even know it's there in some cases.

It's well documented, and most of us who have been around, after a few hunts/spawns will automatically repair our gear (or at least check it after every outing).

In other MMOs, gear maintenance is simply not a thing, because you're on the constant leveling treadmill where your gear is there to help you hit the next level, and when you hit the next level, you're eligible for better gear, so you throw out/sell all of your gear and buy better stuff. Once in a while you might hold on to a nice/matched set of gear to bank sit (or auction house sit), but otherwise you dispose of it (not helped that if your MMO doesn't have housing, your constrained by bank space).

In UO, we can hand a newbie a 100 million gp piece of gear, and as long as they meet the strength requirements, they can use it.  Other MMOs, they have to have reached a high level to use high-end stuff.
