House Commit Design Resets Security Public House

This is probably discussed somewhere but I'm not finding it.

I decided to make a public house but I obviously want some areas to be off-limits. So, I have some doors and floor teleport tiles that are set to owner only. However, every time I go back into design mode and commit a new design all of the teleport tiles and doors reset to "anyone" security level.

Is this normal behavior for the customization or is there a setting I can change?

It happened to me the last time I changed a few things on my house, which was a couple of weeks ago. I had to set some doors back to owners-only.

Been this way since we could do custom houses.

I'm afraid customizing does not save individual settings on doors and teleport tiles, they revert to 'default'.
  • Is it just doors and teleport tiles? I guess I'm a little worried about other stuff, so I'm having to go back and check locked down items like lamps etc and chests. It looks like everything like interaction items, chests and other storage containers save their security.

Yes just doors and tiles. It's always good practice to triple check all other items though. Better safe than sorry.

Raised this issue here after it got me killed: https://forum.uo.com/discussion/14314/door-teleporter-security-settings-reset-to-anyone-when-publishing-a-house-design#latest

It’s an oversight that should be changed, but it’s been like that forever so probably will remain so.
  • So true. I'm pretty sure I just got lucky to figure out that it had reset. A warning would have been nice.

Also, what I do now is if I don't make any changes I just right click on the gump to exit customization mode and I verified all my tiles and doors stayed the same.

Really the default should just be owner like in a private house. I'd rather it revert stuff back to owner rather than anyone, but a private home may even retain the settings much less revert them to owner.

I take it the rest of your story was you live in fel and you were surprised as h-e-ck when a red went through a door or teleport especially if your sitting there logged in with your mule or worker character.
