Paladin War Fork - Return of Fencing in UO?

This an info post about the new weapon and how it may create more fencers.

Fencing did not have a 1 handed Double strike weapon.  The Paladin War Fork is a new weapon type with the specials Armor Ignore and Double Strike.

If you like playing a warrior without bushido, you can use a shield.  Your primary fencing weapons could be The Paladin War Fork and the Spiked whip.  The new Bulwark of Light is a pretty nice shield for a warrior.

In order to swing the Paladin War Fork at max speed, you need   150 Stamina and 0SSI or 120 Stamina 10SSI.

In order to swing the whip at max speed you need  180 Stamina 20SSI.

In order to use this weapon combo, you would want 180 Stamina 20SSI so you can switch between them.

This is a very easy Stamina/SSI to obtain.   A crafted suit can do this with the Epps or jewels for SSI. Bulwark has 10SSI

I chose to make my fencer have 100LRC because he has necro and spirit speak. So that is a more difficult suit to create.

Below is a stat sheet with the damage that each of these weapons would do.  Their specials and some info about Fencing Masteries.  The most common mastery used is Pierce.

You can switch a swordsman or macer to fencing by just removing the weapon skill and replacing it with Fencing.  A fencer can be any template, Sampire, Paladin, or any thing you want.

Maybe this new weapon will bring more players to fencing.

Have Fun!

"In order to swing the Paladin War Fork at max speed, you need [...] 120 Stamina 10SSI."
This is incorrect. You need 120 stamina and 5 SSI to swing a war fork at 1.25 s

    Thanks
This one was my bad I did not try 5SSI.

To wield the Paladin War Fork at max speed:

    120 Stamina 5SSI
    150 Stamina  0SSI

Since most will also use a WW weapon also.  You want to be able to swing the whip at max speed.

To swing the Spiked whip at max speed:

    150 Stamina 35 SSI
    180 Stamina 20SSI

The Bulwark Shield has 10SSI, the Epps have 10 SSI.  If you go the 180 Stamina 20SSI you could use those and not need SSI on jewels.

There are quite a few combinations of Jewels you can buy on Atlantic that do not have SSI but have + skills and HCI, DCI, and other things like FCR, FC, Regens, Stats.

I was able to use Atl VS on Sunday AM and bought some pretty sweet non Antique jewels for less than 2M each. But other times its not easy to get results when you choose Non Antique.

I got this for 1M on Atl.  Can't craft that.

Also, CUO now has the specials for these weapons, so you can use CUO.

My Sampires also have GM Necro/GM SS, but i use Arcane Thigh Boots and carry Arcane Gems to recharge them for getting into/out of forms and casting some spells. I also carry some Pig Iron, Bat Wings and Grave Dust for casting Curse Weapon and Corpse Skin without using Arcane Charges. I'd love to see the "Reagent Bag of Unburdening" make it's way from NL to Prodo Shards due to this.

"Pierce" can drain up to 40% of a victim's max Stamina over 10 seconds. So hitting a monster with Pierce every 10 secs over 30 secs (3 Pierces total), will completely drain it's Stamina. That is unless the monster's Stamina Regen outpaces the Stamina Drain, which can occur with creatures that have low max Stamina, or very high Stamina Regen (like Paragons). Pierce does not stack with Stagger or Onslaught, as in the active effects of them cannot be simultaneously active on the same target. You could have a Fencer though hit a boss with Pierce 3 times over 30 secs to drain their Stamina, then afterwards a Macer keeps Stagger running on the boss (as they use a Hit Fatigue wep to keep the Stamina low), this is effective against Exodus or Blackthorn's Captains.

"Thrust" is a toggled ability that gives +18% Damage per hit (stacking up to +54%, subject to the 300% total damage cap) while reducing the victim's damage output by -18% per hit (stacking up to -50%) for 8 secs (successive hits do not refresh the duration, so 8 secs after the initial hit, it resets). This ability is a mana hog though, sucking down 30 Mana (subject by LMC) each and every hit.
