Lost Gold Bars

I used Gold Bars to tame Emberwing but Emberwing killed me anyways. I was able to recover my items but the gold bars are gone. I do have one body that has not decayed but will not let me open it. Tried with undertaker staff also. I did try after I ressed to tame emberwing but it says I need the lure. So to sum up I tried to tame emberwing with the lure while having dragon knowledge. I was killed by emberwing but no lure was on my corpses. I have one corpse that has not decayed but will not let me open it. I do have everything else that I had before the death. It was like the lure didn't work but still got used unless it is on the corpse that hasn't decayed. I was using the Web version of COU at the time this occurred. I have tried logging out and back in. I have tried using another client. I definitely do not have the bars. They either failed to work which is why I died or the are still on the corpse which I can't open.

The gold bars have a timer of 2 minutes once they are used. If you are unable to do it within that time frame (or die and unable to recover in time) then they are in fact gone.

Well the problem is the bars didn't work. Emberwing still aggroed and killed me. I believe the bars were still on the body that wouldn't decay and wouldn't let me open it. That body was still there over 4 hours later.

I was assured the bars, once used, decay in 2 minutes regardless. Are you certain you used the lure? You have to feed it to Emberwing to calm them to tame them.

It all happened kind of fast. Either the bars failed, which shouldn't have happened, or I failed and I should have been able to recover the bars. However I had a corpse that it wouldn't let me open and it wouldn't decay. My body was still there 5 1/2 hours later. Either way I ended up with no bars. Emberwing never went passive. There was a wandering healer with me and I tried to ress but was killed multiple times. I ran out got ressed and died a couple more times. I was able to recover everything except the gold bars. I suspect that the bars were on the body that I couldn't open. I realize that I lost the bars. I just want to help fix what ever bug caused it. I did submit it to the bug team.

I understand. But you can't just have the bars in your pack. You have to feed them to emberwing, then emberwing will start to sparkle and will become passive. It sounds like they weren't fed to emberwing and that is what caused the aggression and ultimately your characters death.

As far as being unable to open your backpack after dying with one of your bodies, I would suggest if this happens again (which I hope it never does for you) to page a GM, so they can take note of everything and if need be, they can escalate the information to the bug team.

I am aware of how to use the lure. I also did call a gm and waited by my body for over 3 hours for the gm to come before logging out. I lost not only the gold bars but several hours of playtime waiting for a gm. I received an email the next morning since I wasn't in game at that time. I was told that GM's can't replace lost items, houses, or pets which I expected. They also told me that If the loss was a result of a game flaw, that I should report this incident to the development team via https://uo.com/contact/ and selecting "Bug Report" in the "Department" field which I did giving the all the information I could. I made the post here about the bug before receiving this email. Like I said I know that the item will not be replaced. However I would like to help prevent this from happening to someone else. I appreciate you trying to help and thank you but now it is in the hand of the Bug Team.

This literally almost happened to me live on stream because I am a taming newb. Thankfully, I hit the right macro before the timer elapsed and was able to snag my Emberwing.

to @Gyngersnap, that one is a bummer. =/
