Cannot /chat

I cannot seem to /chat & when I change to that channel, I get the message: You must be in a channel to do this.  Join a channel using the Chat menu on the menu bar.

I have had this for 24 hours through multiple reboots.

    I am using the enhanced client.  I can only see the "chat" channel, say, yell, guild, & party.  Not sure how to get the join channel window up, I will look.

    Hi jgranai1,

    The EC has a hotbar by default. There is an icon that looks like a message bubble. Clicking it will open the screen to join a channel.

    If you don't have this icon on the hotbar, you may find it in the list of Actions (press escape > Actions). It's in the Menu Options category. Drag the icon to a hotbar.

    If you still can't find it, you may type this into chat: /script CreateWindow("ChannelWindow",true)
