Client resets to zero for last toon used after Christmas’s update

This happens now about once a year.  Guessing after the Christmas’s update which I think was last year.  I log on but after taking a few steps the program pauses and I have to wait for it to start again to take a few steps after which it pauses again.  The pauses are rather long.  This just continues until I attempt to reboot.  Pretty sure it does not stay active long enough for me to log out.  It just keeps pausing.  The screen grays out so that I know it is paused.  Usually I am in a safe place when this happens I know something is going on.  Anyway after the program crashes or I reboot, if the program works when I restart UO with the screen no longer at the full setting, all my hot bars and macros gone.  It only affects the toon I was playing when UO crashes.  It happens about once a year I am guessing at this time.  It’s happened enough times now it only takes me a hour or so to rewrite the macros and rest the hot bars.  But it should not happen at all when all I attempted to do was logon.
