What does resisting spells do?

Trying to figure out if it's worth doing the repeatable quests 9 more times.

Makes you resist poison sometimes/paralyze is shorter / mana leech/vamp isn’t as potent, all 40’s resist. Killing 200 spellbinders was pretty easy

I chose Resist Spells foe my Advanced skill for Mage and also chose Focus because of the paucity of Mana Regeneration gear.
  • Resist skill reduces the potency/duration of debuffs like Weaken/Clumsy/Feeblemind/Curse, as well as Necro debuffs (which some mobs still cast in NL). Paralyze duration and Mana Drain/Mana Vampire intensity is also affected by Resist skill, as is the success chance of the Poison spell.
With the lack of Chivalry's "Remove Curse", Mysticism's "Cleansing Winds", Enchanted Apples, or Dart Trapped Boxes, Resist skill is even more important in NL, especially in PvP.

If a Ranger without Resist skill gets hit by Weaken from a Lich, it'll literally drop his STR low enough to where he can't wear most Plate (or even the Crimson Wymscale set). If wearing those high STR requirement pieces at the time you're hit with Weaken, they'll literally drop off of your paperdoll and into your main backpack.
