T-Map Spawn Needs SERIOUS Corrections

  • No pets
  • No spell casting allowed
You place these stupid permanent event fixtures into the world without evaluating the downstream impact.

Thats why they reset after 1 month, self fix.  Are you out of maps?  Go to fire, there are plenty there.  Or someone could probably give you hundreds if you ask in chat.

I think they are referring to it being in guard zone or area you can't use pets or spell in

Yes, put that map back for a month and let it reset to a new location.  I have had them there.

Also T maps are spawned are all over the place.  1 map that has to reset is not a game changing experience.

If you do a lot of maps by now you should be able to approximate the chest’s position pretty well.  If it is in a guard zone and you can’t solo it without the help of a pet or a summons just take the map home, lock it down where you can see it and wait for it to reset.  I also do this with maps that appear to be under buildings.  Assume your map is located in the fire island casino.  You can cast direct damage spells in there but no pets or summons.  I have done cache maps in there but usually not hoards.
As others have mentioned vendor search is a good source of maps.  Prices vary greatly from one day to the next.  Hoard maps for example sell for anywhere from 250 to more than 250,000 gold.  If you check often you can get great deals.  You can also get hoard maps from the Maissea, the scorpion, in the labyrinth.

Many map types give 30k gold+ you can but them for a fraction of that.

I would like there to be some new rewards in chests.  Real high end good stuff to make it really worth while doing them again. I mean REALLY goof stuff. 50 odd new artis but high end roof quality

I get 20 to 40 maps a month that end up in undesirable places.  I toss them into a bag with a note saying when to decode them again.

I shouldn't have to wait a month to use a tmap because of bad design.  Sounds trivial and while I know there are bigger fish to fry (bugs),  at the very least, a GM should reset map location for you.

Really? Just because you don't know how the T-maps works (since several years at least?), anybody else should hurry and help you out here because you don't know how it really works? Please.

This is not an issue, this is lazyness on the player's side, and anyone of us who can read can go to the Wiki and read up how to solve a problem like this.

Simply put: it is NOT an issue!

(Aye, I also called a GM like... years ago... about an issue like this, and he taught me how I do resolve this myself, and since then, it's not an issue for me anymore!)

    UO Player Wiki:
    • "Inaccessible Chests:
Treasure map locations are random, sometimes they may spawn in an inaccessible, or just undesirable, place. These need not be discarded. A read (blessed) treasure map, if not dug up within 30 days, will re-set becoming again ‘tattered’. When read this map will show a new, different, location on the same facet."

There are mechanics in place to deal with maps of this type, as several players have mentioned. A GM will not intervene when the problem already has a viable solution.
