Is the example I provided accurate?

I'm guessing you have to trap the boxes with a char that has super low magery though?

Isn't there something about the direction they face?  Is that in the link?  The link wont load for me.

I think you make them with a tinker that is kinda low in skill.
Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.

Craft with carpenter that has enough tinker to make it lockable, trap with tinker with around 30 skill (dart trap), lock with key, cast magic unlock on it. It has to be the right way around. I can never remember though if it's north/south or east/west.

It is this direction (facing south).

Trapped boxes are a wonderful way to removing paralysis without having to have high Resisting Spells or some other means.

    Resources:

    • House
    • Exceptional Small Crate (not large)
    • Tinker at level 30
    • Tinker Talisman with +10 or more tinkering chance
    • Ingots
    • Crossbow bolts
    • Mage to cast Unlock spell on the box
    • Furniture Dye tub

Steps: Use your level 30 Tinker

    • Drop exceptional small crate on the floor of your house
    • Lock it down
    • turn it North-South using the interior deco tool
    • Un-lock it down - you cannot trap a locked down object
    • Tinker a dart trap, using ingots and crossbow bolts
    • at 30 skill there will be many fails, so use a tinkering talisman
    • lock it with its key (done with key now, toss it)

    Use your Mage

    • cast magic unlock to unlock it
    • lock it back down
    • use deco tool to turn it back to east-west
    • release the box
    • test opening the box, it should set off the trap and cause about 10 hp damage
    • dye the box so it is recognizable as a working trapped box

UO Assist can be used to know not to check this and will also give it a color for you.

you do not need a house to make these, I have trap boxes on other shards that my other character made for my main tamer that attends event.  Once that character makes the box I use the packer trick to trade to the tamer, and they cast unlock and put it in their main pack.
