Returning Player - BOD questions

Hi!

Coming back after a long time gone. I've found a lot of guides around BODs and how to use them, but none of them seem to be current. What's the best way to run them, currently? Should I be banking points, or spending points? What should I save up for, gold-wise?

How do you all use them, what do you do with them, and how are they making your lives (and gold collection) easier and better?

Here's a more detailed overview  (Direct Link) of the BOD system as a whole. Bilbo's search would have worked, but this cuts out on the guess work.

This is UO's official documentation, so it's likely as current as possible.

Banking points is kind of a toss up, as the points you get for banking/saving up are far, far less than the BOD is worth (2% for smalls, 20% for large). All depends on if you need what the reward for that BOD is, or if it's more valuable as points.
