Champions of Siege - your input please.

Citizens of Siege,
I'd like to start planning an ongoing series of arena tournaments. As you all know, getting agreement on anything on Siege is *cough* challenging, but I would like to hear your view on what's going to give you the most entertainment. So, here are my ideas so far - please, tear them to shreds, build on them, change them - let's hear it.

1. Categories
What works well? Magic users all grouped together? Mage / Necro / Mystic categories? Fighter vs fighter? A Sampire category? Suggestions, please, otherwise you're stuck with whatever weird idea I come up with.

2. Mechanics
I like keeping it simple. 1 v 1, maybe 2 v 2? Dead people lose.
Last man standing in each category gets named on the leaderboard as whatever title fits their category + "of [month]" - e.g. "Sampire of September".

3. Rewards
I'll speak to Mesanna about prizes, but can guarantee a trophy in the reward hall. One idea I have is to have a set of statues set up permanently somewhere - one per category - with the current year's category champion's name on each. I'd also like to try to arrange titles - but no promises. All I can do is ask.

4. Rules
- Mages : No pets or melee weapons.
- Melee fighters : No pets or spells.
- Tamers : Pets do the bulk of the fighting, tamer can only heal / command the pet.
- Naked combat : No gear, weapons, pets, spells. Only fists and bandages.

5. Scoring
Participants get 1 point. The winner gets 10 points. Runner up gets 5 points. Defending champion gets a bonus 10 points if they win again. Whoever has the most points at the end of the year wins the tournament.

6. Audience participation
Feel free to run your own pools / bets / raffles / whatever.

7. Location
I thought it might be good to rotate around the arenas - so, Khaldun one month, Occlo the next, Jhelom fighting pits, etc, etc.

That's all I have so far - here's a complimentary box of rotten fruit to throw - let's hear it! "Boo, you suck" is a perfectly valid comment - so long as you provide a better idea.

If we can get something vaguely resembling agreement, we'll hold the first tournament in early September.

    *bump*
If there's no interest, I'll come up with something else - I can only assume that the champion of Siege already knows who they are, and everyone else knows better than to challenge them.
    *evil grin*
