Mysticism with Focus or without

I did a quick test to see how much more effective mysticism is with or without focus. I'm playing with some templates and wanted more ways to heal and mysticism seem to fit but I wanted to lose focus so I needed to see how critical it was.

I simply stoned 100 focus and went hunting with just mysticism. I kept it simple with ratmen archers. I hit them with bolt, bombard, hailstorm, and cyclone.

Bolt took off on average 1. Bombard and Cyclone took off 8-9 and hailstorm took off 16. I also used cleansing wind which healed around 20hp and healing stone loaded with about 117 points. Enchant weapon of course does NOT give spell channeling property without 100 focus but it gave 35% fireball.

After adding 100 focus:

Bolt took off average of 10, Bombard, cyclone, and hailstorm all took off between 50-65. Cleansing wind healed for 50pts and healing stone loaded with over 200pts on average. Enchant weapon gives spell channel bonus and also added 52% fireball to the weapon instead of 35%.

I think it is pretty clear that you need focus or imbuing with mysticism.

I didn't try summoned creatures as it was too hard to tell the stats aside from length of conjure. However, my animate weapon without focus was super weak. It seemed to struggle with a ratman and did not seem to dispatch anything too quickly. I'd assume focus would make it a bit stronger. I'd imagine the same goes for Eagle strike and rising colossus.

Hope this helps someone.

Focus to mysticism is as evaluate is to magery

Yes. I just wanted to better understand the boost. It seems some things in UO give negligible boosts.  It seems this boost is pretty serious. Eval at least has some formulas on uoguide. I think the real sense that I am getting is that at the base the spells are pretty crappy. For example, with mysticism without focus, killing a ratman archer was a little tedious. You would think that magery and mysticism without their boosts would still have a base level of kick assery at GM level.
