House placement

This delay using the house placement tool needs to go already. It's gotten beyond annoying and does nothing but hurt anyone that's attended.

    Yes.

For context, I did not know about the change,  and went trying to find a plot, doing my typical try to place a 7x7 and see if it fits, then go up from there strategy and literally took over an hour to get a house I could squeeze in, and this was on a "ghost " shard , not atlantic.

We will not speak of the obscenities I uttered while hunting on Atlantic. There are still flame charred scorch marks all over the moniter.

PS: Atlantic needs more housing areas as well.

Same boat. It's just not acceptable anymore.

This delay does absolutely nothing to the BOT placers and makes it extremely frustrating to place a house for anyone else.

House Placement System Needs Urgent Change

Congrats on stepping in as the new lead! Since you're open to feedback and fresh ideas, I want to raise a serious issue that desperately needs fixing: the current house placement system, especially for IDOCs.

Right now, one player — "nonono" — places nearly every house that falls. This isn't exaggeration, it's fact. They're running 30 accounts and placing every second. Regular players with 1 or 2 accounts have zero chance of competing. ZERO.

This isn't just frustrating — it's broken. The current system rewards those with the most accounts and scripts, not actual players.

It’s time for a better way. Here’s a simple idea:
Bring back a raffle-style system like the Old Magincia event.

    • When a house falls, put a “raffle stone” in place.

    • Players can click it to enter for a chance to claim that plot.

    • If they win, they get a scroll that locks the spot for 24 hours.

    • If they don’t use it, the area opens back up.

Yes, someone with 30 accounts will have more entries. But at least now everyone has a real shot. If 100 people enter, even the guy with 30 accounts has just a 30% chance, not the near-100% he has today.

Right now, there’s no competition. Just domination by a single player using sheer account volume. That’s not what UO is about. It’s time to level the field and make house placement fair again.

Thanks for listening — and really hope you consider this.

My first time posting on this forum, and I finally found a reason to.

I 100% agree with the post above. Devs, please we know you're super focused on New Legacy right now, and it feels like the normal shards have been left behind, but this really needs attention.

The current system is just unfair for players with only 1, 2, or even 3 accounts. There's no real chance against the guy who places every single IDOC... and he’s not even there in person! Hours before the house drops, you can literally see him recall in with 30+ characters at once, they all hide, and boom he gets the plot almost every time.

Please consider a raffle system, or like Mesanna once said, just remove the IDOC timers from the house sign. That alone would help a lot.

I didn't either when I came back, and when I was placing I made one little mistake without realizing it, and by the time the timer was up, I'm sitting there trying different house sizes (smaller sizes) and I nearly placed a smaller house.  Thankfully I realized my mistake (figured out where a corner needed to be) and came across others mentioning the "True" message, and before placing, I checked on some other shards and saw something bigger would fit.

At least give us an indication of when the timer is up (and a notice that a timer exists in the first place).  The unknown timer just pisses off casual players and would frustrate returning players who think they are making mistakes.
