Stepping down as Producer
Posted on February 3, 2025 by Mesanna

Greetings all,

I am writing to all of you to inform you that I am stepping down as Producer. Greg Havlusch aka Kyronix will be taking over as Producer and will drive the roadmap, all of the systems, and content in the game. I am stepping back with some of my responsibilities but will continue to own the Customer Service also known as Game Masters and Event Moderators.

I am sure all of you are curious as to why am I stepping down as Producer. I have been the luckiest person alive to be able to work with all of the players and the smart creative people I have worked with present and past. But it is time for me to enjoy some time off to work in my greenhouse, play with puppies, and snuggle with my hubby.

On a personal note, I want to say the last 26 years working on UO and interacting with some of the most creative, fun, and passionate players I have ever known has been a highlight for me. This has been a difficult decision but one that is good for me.

Thank you for all the years!

Bonnie Armstrong

Hopefully this is good news for all of us.  Maybe less New legacy boondoggle and some game fixing and enhancements.  I mean we’ve gone about 5 years without meaningful updates to UO.

So many things with just a moderate amount of tweaking could be great again.  Doom. Community collections.  Despise. Turn in points.  Housing.  Vendor search.  Jewelry box search. Bods.  Crafting. Etc etc.

Congratulations Bonnie. You truly deserve to have time for yourself to get that good ole dirt under your fingernails, the earth/soil type of dirt. I could never imagine myself in your position all these years without killing half the trolls and staying sane. You're a strong person and I'm glad to hear that you've decided to take care of Bonnie and let Bonnie live a life that's healthier.

    Safe travels dear Lady.

This is interesting news to hear.

I'm hopeful that the more recent uptick in communication / roadmapping / additional content are all a sign of things to come with this news of leadership switch.

Congrats Kyronix on your promotion and congrats to Mesanna on making the decision to step back to spend more time outside of UO while sticking to something more in her wheelhouse which is the GM/EMs.

This caught me by surprise, but will happen to us all!
I'm jealous of the greenhouse bit, not so jealous of snuggling the husband bit...

Good luck Mesanna, it's been an interesting run, I never got to debate with you as you never answered my calls ! :)

Mr Kyronix, come to me for the roadmap - I have lots of ideas! :D

Lots of changes! Good luck Mesanna, snuggling husbands and puppies is important work! Glad you're not leaving us completely.
Congratulations Kyronix. I will be here, as always, to support you in any limited way that I can.

Thank you for the work and dedication Mesanna!

For the new Producer Kyronix I have compiled a short list over pressing issues to be dealth with:

    • There is a need for a new or improved PvP system
    • Cheating need to be dealth with, bots and illegal clients in PvP
    • A new desktop client with updated features need to be released
    • Peerless monsters and Champ bosses drop the same as 15 years ago, need improvements
    • Bugs that exist should get fixed, for example the party system
    • NPC quests should list the difficoulty from one to five stars, and list if its for Solo or Group play.
    • Crafting, Imbuing, Reforging, Refinements, enhancements, its too complex for newreturning players
    • Several skills are not used and should be improved (Item ID, Forensic eval, Herding, Taste ID, Arms lore, snooping, Camping, Tracking.)
    • Some masteries are hardly used, and people consider them worthless, they should be improved further to be used more.
    • Improve the UO webside with a myUO feature, to see guilds and shards (should be combined with a working pvp sytem)
    • More Gold sinks should be introduced

Thank you and good luck going forward, lets make UO best MMORPG once again!
    Long live UO!

Thank you Mesanna, glad to hear that you will still be around and best of luck.

Congratulations Kyronix and best of luck for the new challenges. Please, bring some love to crafting, rogues, revamp the Mondaine's craftables and finally make the Armoire and Weapons Rack containers become a thing in Ultima Online (see https://forum.uo.com/discussion/15667/we-get-a-500-dyes-pigments-container-thank-you-can-we-then-also-get-an-armoire-and-a-weapons-rack#latest). Thank you.

Bonnie, I wish you the best in this new stage of your life both personally and professionally.

This new professional stage focused exclusively as Game Masters and Event Moderators will bring an improvement in the quality of service to the consumer thanks to all your experience and professional trajectory.

It would be a pleasure if you would organize a meeting in the main Shards so that Ultima Online fans can thank you for your service and dedication as a Producer.

Thank you for your service and dedication :)

PS: Greg, congratulations, I wish you the best in this new professional stage and may you lead this great and wonderful game to success.

Congratulations Bonnie on the long run as UO's producer. I think this has been the most stable time period, in terms of developers, in UO's history. I personally suspect that you have been working far more than the standard 40hrs a week for most, if not all, of your time as producer. I hope you enjoy the change in schedule and maybe less stress? Good luck with everything!

As for Kyronix, let the torture begin!!!!!!  >:)

No, congrats to Kyronix as well. Good luck with helming the ship Greg, deep breaths and steady hands on the tiller, eh?
