We must bring back the magic of Ultima Online

You are out hunting and on your killing quest an ettin falls to the ground, and in its loot some gold pieces and whoah a magic sword! what is it, what can it be?!  You dont know because you dont have the skill of Item Identification, but lucky enough you have a wand in your house of Item Identification. SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSHSWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSHSWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH

You have magically identified your hard earned weapon to be atique, brittle -1 FC, massive, prized, unwieldy, oh and its a practice weapon.

And the 132gold you found on the ettin, you already have 132platinum.

Have you tried new legacy? I'm not sure about now but a month or two ago, 10k was a lot of gold to have. Looting reagents etc was a must.

If you haven't played it then give it a try, that might be what you are looking for. As for me... give me power creep! I'll take the staff with 100% Leech everything + lightning + fireball + assassin honed + bane + 1000 each stat :D

Unfortunately there isn't a wide variety of magic items on NL, so I'm not sure how magical it will be in that regard. Also a lot of the items are already identified by name, you just need to use ID skill on the to see the actual stats.

My comment was in regards to there being no brittle/antique/massive/etc.

There isn't a wide variety of items currently (I assume) because it's a year long season so they are slowly releasing the different levels (ie vanquishing isn't available yet...I assume).

I can see both sides of the coin here... I personally do not like being throttled back so killing all the same stuff over and over to cap out at like surprisingly accurate doesn't interest me much.

That said, given the way everything is scripted these days, if they dropped all items (ie Vanq) right away there would be people with top end armor/weapons by week 2 and the game would basically be "won" at that point and the next 40+ weeks would be repetitive with nothing else to do.

The thing of NL is that while the devs/players are looking to recapture what was once UO; that is very tough (maybe impossible) given the gaming/technology landscaped is massively different. Playing UO 25 years ago, there wasn't such thing as botting/scripting and the most high tech way to macro was jam a paperclip into your keyboard while only using a single account. Another shift is that 25 years ago video games were really just a way to relax/spend time... not a source of income for people. There are people playing the game now that look at it as a way to make money which ultimately impacts things as a whole (ie cheating/scripting/etc).
