E.G on a frost mite, if you select a special ability first, you lose the option to select a special move. However if you select a special move you don’t lose the option to select a special ability. So in general you need to select first a special move, then a special ability, then a magical ability. Selecting abilities in any other order normally results in losing one or more advancement options.
