Spirit Speak can be interrupted by damage while under the effect of Protection

This discrepancy has probably been around forever, and I'm not sure whether it's intentional:

When you use Spirit Speak while protection is active and you receive damage, you are interrupted.

Spirit Speak being a skill and not a spell might explain it, but I wonder if it's an oversight.

Its not a spell, its a skill.

It's also not subject to faster casting so the negative attribute to faster casting that protection has cannot be applied to it. If the negative is not applied, then the positive should not be either.

You get "You are already casting a spell" if you try to cast e.g. bless right after using spirit speak.

So SS seems like a spell, that checks a skill for level of success/effectiveness.  (like when eval int skill impacts effectiveness of traditional spells).

Even if SS was purely a skill, most/all (?) skills cannot be interrupted.

If it wasn't interruptible, it would certainly buff up certain monsters...

Mana leech (wraith form) already scales based on spirit speak.  Perhaps Grimbeard is referring to the observation that sampires usually run with Zero spirit speak skill, and perhaps that should be bumped up for life leech purposes?

Correct vampiric embrace should leech off ss level just because something is popular does make it less an exploit or bug
