Cannot alter platemail gloves

GwenGwen Posts: 210
This gloves were just bought from vendor, so not duped and are clear , not worn, not from special materials.
Trying to alter it with my crafter (120 Blacksmith , 120 imbuing) gives me message "You may not alter this"   What is happening?  Tried to alter newly crafted gloves- everything is OK.

There may be issues with altering items that face the "wrong" direction (left facing vs. right facing).  Do your crafted gloves that alter OK face the same direction as these that fail?

Yes, thank you all. Issue is I cannot alter gloves of one type, can alter other.
Since this bug was not fixed since 2018 , it will never be fixed. They just dont care.

@Mariah can we add to alter page  (https://uo.com/wiki/ultima-online-wiki/gameplay/crafting/altering/) that only selected types of platemail gloves can be altered?

Perhaps the 2018 bug report did not include enough information to identify and fix the issue.

    Perhaps this will help:

gwen has a platemail gloves, typeID 5144, that does NOT alter to gargish kilt typeID 16468
gwen has a platemail gloves, typeID 5140, that DOES alter to gargish kilt typeID 16468

there are various other items that have left vs. right facing alternate typeIDs that may also not alter.

    For instance,
bone gloves has typeIDs 5200 and 5205
platemail tunic has typeIDs 5141 and 5142
    etc

There is probably a "to->from" conversion table that is consulted when altering items, and that table needs to be updated.  It would be fine if typeIDs 5140 and 5144 both had entries that converted to typeID 16468  @Kyronix

Would it help if we posted the alternate typeIDs for the various items?

(In EC, there is a "Get Type ID" under "other" actions you can use to identify the type ID, as does Pinco's per gwen's screenshot).

    That would require development communication
Acknowledgment and accountability go a long way...
