I don't have that problem. With 3 books, one for chainmail, one for ringmail and one for platemail you can use the existing filters for number/material/quality etc to find exactly what you need.

First you need to work out exactly which ones are 'rubbish', because herding, for one, isn't useless. Many players have an active herder and use them regularly, me included. Just because you have no use for the skill, doesn't mean no one else has.

The whole question is moot anyway, devs have said that cross shard vendor search isn't technically doable because of the way the shards are set up, the same with any idea to just go to another shard via a moongate. It can't be done.
