Fletching Bods - Getting Oak Runic Fletching Tools

It is well known that the fletching bod system is a bit of a train wreck in that many of the bods in the system are for bows that require special ingredients (fire ruby, ecru citrine, white pearl etc).

Non Special Bows :  bow, crossbow, heavy crossbow, composite bow, repeating crossbow, yumi, elven comp longbow, magical shortbow

Special Ingredient Bows : barbed longbow, slayer longbow, frozen longbow, longbow of might, rangers shortbow, lightweight shortbow, mystical shortbow

This is the ONLY bod system in the game that includes bods for crafted items that require special ingredients making any of the special ingredient bows very expensive/difficult to fill.    So in almost all cases these are throwaway bods (unless you are trying to do a large bod for a heartwood runic).

Many people will use low end single bods and fill and turn in for another bod to cycle through them hoping for a better bod - but due to the expense here - these are not cycle-able bods because of the cost and effort of the special materials.

One of the more prized rewards from Fletching bods is the oak fletching runic because it can be used to reforge 100% weapons (100% fire, poison, cold, energy etc).  The points required to claim one on a single bod is  425 points.  Any bod at least Oak EX  or Yew normal will be 425 points or over.

Now because of the above issues more than half the small bods are trash and get thrown out (any special ingredient bows) so it isn't long of cycling bods that you run out of bods to turn in and get a new bod.

However, there is a way around this system.  With just .1 skill in fletching you can get a bod.  When you have .1 skill the only bods you will have available are :  Crossbow Bolt, Arrow, Kindling, Shaft and Bow.

The key here is Bow!  That is the easiest of all the bows to make 100% exceptional, takes the least wood and doesn't need a special ingredient.

So - get .1 skill on your non-crafter and gather bods.  Fill and turn in all the crossbow bolt, arrow, kindling and shaft bods (on your .1 character)  until you get nothing but bow bods.   Then bribe up the bow bods to either Oak EX or Yew Normal and the fill and turn in for Oak Runics.   Easy button to getting oak runics.

Actually, just a small point, you are not entirely correct. Elven wooden weapons, carpentry bods, also require the same large gems.

Ok, well - log it as requests for changes in the bod system.  They make the bods essentially useless because no one is going to waste those ingredients crafting items when there are bods without that requirement giving the same rewards.  Its a poor design of the system.  But thanks for the update.

While you are at it - the tailor bods are semi non-sensical as well because bone larges give the same reward as studded larges because they are both 5 item larges.  However - bone requires bones and it is far harder to craft than studded so most bone bods are thrown out.  The bone larges should have same reward schedule as 6 piece leather larges.  They are just as intensive and more difficult to craft.  Leather armor is super simple to make EX especially the male 6 piece.  Meanwhile with bone its much harder to make Ex and you can't recycle non-ex pieces back into leather/bones.  They are thrown out.   Bad design.

In the smith category you get more points/rewards for 3 piece chainmail bods instead of 4 piece large ringmail which of course is another problem. It makes all ringmail useless except for smalls. Why do a 4 piece large using more ingots when a 3 piece chain set gives you more points?  They are backwards.

Anyone at all look at bods??

are you forgetting Alchemy has nexus core BODs?
which require 50, 75 or 100 Dark Sapphires to make
(got over 1 dozen of them in the last week)

do you really think this BOD is worth doing?
75 Dark Sapphires for 2.5 bank points

    =======

I think the longbow of might would be better to craft than these are

There was a lot of feedback when they tested the new BOD system.  Some things were changed, some BODs that could be bribed never made it into the game. So they just changed the charts and pretended they did not exist.

I had a book with 500 Carpentry BODs in it.  I dropped it on the floor one day and it fell thru the foundation and could not be retrieved.  Best Bug I ever met!  Glad it is gone, never collected another Carpentry BOD.

I made 1 Nexus Core for deco.
Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.
