House Placement System Needs Urgent Change
I want to raise a serious issue that desperately needs fixing: the current house placement system, especially for IDOCs.
Right now, one player — "nonono" — places nearly every house that falls. This isn't exaggeration, it's fact. They're running 30 accounts and placing every second. Regular players with 1 or 2 accounts have zero chance of competing. ZERO.
This isn't just frustrating — it's broken. The current system rewards those with the most accounts and scripts, not actual players.
It’s time for a better way. Here’s a simple idea:
Bring back a raffle-style system like the Old Magincia event.
-
When a house falls, put a “raffle stone” in place.
-
Players can click it to enter for a chance to claim that plot.
-
If they win, they get a scroll that locks the spot for 24 hours.
-
If they don’t use it, the area opens back up.
Yes, someone with 30 accounts will have more entries. But at least now everyone has a real shot. If 100 people enter, even the guy with 30 accounts has just a 30% chance, not the near-100% he has today.
Right now, there’s no competition. Just domination by a single player using sheer account volume. That’s not what UO is about. It’s time to level the field and make house placement fair again.

@Kyronix @Mesanna @Bleak
This is serious and ongoing issue that is negatively impacting the player base and the in-game housing market.
This guy nonono has been exploiting the IDOC and house placement system for a long time now. At nearly every IDOC event, it's the same story: he recalls in 20+ characters at once, places every single 18x18, keep, and even castles, and ends up controlling the market completely.
This isn't just frustrating — it's demoralizing. Many players have already reported this behavior to GMs, provided evidence, and even emailed Mesanna directly. Still, nothing happens. It sends a message that this kind of abuse is tolerated, and it's driving away honest players who just want a fair chance.
I’m not alone in this. Many others in the community share this frustration. Enough is enough.
If no real action can be taken against this kind of behavior, then please consider drastic changes to how house placements work:
Remove the visible house stage from the sign.
Or, at this point, just eliminate IDOCs altogether.
The current system is broken and being exploited right out in the open. Something must be done.
Please don't waste the dev's time with this and let them focus on improving the game
the raffle needs to be linked to MASTER ACCT, not individual acct. nononono or whatever his exploiting name is will still win with a gazillion accts.
Just imagine all the gold that is coverted to $$$$$$$$$ for a parasite earning a living for this game.
on your new role as the head of the team.
I’d like to respectfully ask if you could directly address what the plan is to resolve the current situation we're facing.
As the new leader, the direction and solution now rest in your hands.
I’m writing to ask that you please address the long-standing house placement issue that has gone unresolved for far too long. It’s clear that there are no active GMs policing this, and the email reports are proving to be ineffective. Meanwhile, one individual continues to place nearly every single house available in-game, unchecked.
Please don’t follow the previous path that kept things to themselves and left the community in the dark. We’re not asking for miracles—just clear and open communication, which we believe is not too much to ask.
They are not talking about the house placement timer that was added awhile back. These folks are just mad that they are slow and cannot beat another player for a house spot.
these same posters are the reason why IDOC changes happened in the first place and they are terrible. Now they want to further ruin the game.
